University of California Genetics of Absolute Pitch Study  Absolute Pitch, commonly referred to as Perfect Pitch, is an intriguing behavioral trait involved in music perception and is defined as the ability to recognize the pitch of a musical tone without an external reference pitch.

Education

ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education   ERIC is the acronym for the Educational Resources Information Center. The ERIC Clearinghouse on Disabilities and Gifted Education (ERIC EC) is part of the National Library of Education (NLE), Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OERI), U.S. Department of Education. ERIC EC is operated by The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). ERIC EC provides information on the education of individuals with disabilities as well as those who are gifted.

National Resource Center for Blind Musicians  Catering to those who are blind or have severe visual problems, this site provides information on Braille music and technology, as well as adjustment strategies used by visually impaired music students of all ages, their teachers and parents.  The Resource Center is best known for its summer program for college-bound musicians.  It is a division of the Music and arts Center for Humanity.

Helpful Organizations and Agencies

Armory Arts & Music Center  Promotion of arts through performances, exhibits and education. Preservation of the Armory's performance spaces and military history of the structure. Commemoration of Buddy Holly's performance at the Armory and Bob Dylan's emergence as a musical icon. Preserve the Armory's significance, in Duluth's history, as an arts and gathering center.

CHOICE, unlimited  CHOICE, unlimited is dedicated to supporting individuals with disabilities and persons who are experiencing barriers to employment and community inclusion in Duluth, Minnesota and its surrounding communities. 

Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind and Visually Impaired  The Greater Detroit Agency for the Blind is a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing blindness, reducing the impact of blindness, and advocating for those with severe vision loss. The agency was named the best managed non-profit organization under $3 million budget for 2000 by Crain's Detroit Business (December 18-24, 2000 issue).

Harping For Harmony Foundation  To promote harmony and community, locally and globally, through harp music. International and domestic programs focus on Peace, Childhood, Livelihood, Health and Democracy.  HHF is a 501(c)(3)exempt charity in the State of West Virginia, formed in 1994.

Lighthouse for the Blind, Duluth, MN The Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired is a comprehensive rehabilitation agency and offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of the people we serve.

Music Education Network For The Visually Impaired (MENVI) is an information network composed of musicians, specialists, students, parents, and music educators of visually impaired students. The MENVI Advisory Committee is made up entirely of blind musicians and teachers. MENVI exists for, and is guided by blind musicians. MENVI provides a network of information as well as a resource guide to Braille music and the teaching of blind children and adults.

National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped  Through a national network of cooperating libraries, NLS administers a free library program of Braille and audio materials circulated to eligible borrowers in the United States by postage-free mail.

Plan to Achieve Self-Support (PASS) Are you looking to make your music your profession?  PASS a SSI provision to help individuals with disabilities return to work, which can include supplies to start business, school expenses, equipment and tools, transportation and uniform requests.

The Joy of Harps  This website/blog is a showcase for the talents and good deeds of the harpists.   The harp lessons provided at the Santa Barbara Braille Institute demonstrates their talents.

VSA arts of Minnesota  Programs, services, accessible theatre listings, newsletter and resources provided or created by the VSA arts affiliate in Minnesota .  VSA is an international nonprofit organization where all people with disabilities learn through, participate in and enjoy the arts.

Musicians

ACB Radio  ACB Radio showcases and nurtures the creativity and talents of the blind/low-vision community from many parts of the world. Blind and sighted people from many walks of life and a variety of backgrounds regularly tune in to ACB Radio using free software on their computer's.
